Art exhibitions can be virtual.

As artists we are all dreaming to someday being able to hold our own solo exhibition. It’s a big deal. More for telling yourself that you did it, than for the money’s sake.  I never really researched the possibility of doing real life exhibition, until I was offered a virtual one. Whaaat? Auctioneer Stephanie Gagos took a chance on me and offered to do online solo auction of my art. Fortunately I have a tendency to create large body of work quite fast, put some on etsy and forget about the rest. So there was a lot to choose from. Stephanie selected about 12 originals and 12 reproductions, plus I painted few more specifically for the auction, and we scheduled it for 9th of February as a Facebook event, which is coming up in just 6 days. We have about 193 confirmed attendees so far. Any 7 of you that would like to make it a round number?  :) Am I nervous? Of cause I am. The biggest fear there is and always was for all of us is that no one would show up. I almost imagined the echo of my virtual steps in my empty virtual gallery…… Brrrrr! Nope, I prefer to hope for the best, thank you very much.  :)

To those of you who haven’t heard of it yet, here is a chance to see really LARGE stock of my art in one bunch, in all sorts of sizes, mediums and styles. Plus some might go for a reasonable opening bidding price, so do pop in if you are curious or would like to owe a piece: https://www.facebook.com/events/567708830053196/

Below are some of the original and reproductions that will be offered for bidding on 9th of February:

Chat to you later again, and if my ego would get a serious crush, don't worry I'll be back with more art and more of everything else. Because "art goes on", and we cannot stop it can we?

I am so excited guys!

I am announcing release of my second workshop “Fearless Expression” coming up on 29 February 2016!

I’ve been pondering on the concept for the whole year, starting even before my Soulful art Workshop, but to gather necessary courage and pull it together – it took me a while. It’s a complex subject. Collaboration with my daughter Tallulah (photo above), freedom of expression, unfolding. Intuitive fearless art. Loose expressive painting. I cannot believe it I even dared to approach the subject! It did not come to me easy and I almost dropped the ball several times. Fearless expression does not come without fear!

To read more about it, please visit my registration page.

Or watch the 3 minute video first?

Story Art Stages

13a.jpg

Hello Dear Artists! The busy season is in. It is especially evident in the tourist town of Hermanus South Africa, that I am in. Tourists are living us all out of town, lol! No parking, no tables in the restaurants, almost no air left, he-he. But well, we Hermanians know special secret places to hang out…

I’ve been busy with all sorts of things art lately.

Below are my recent story art works and reference images I used for them. Some of you have seen it on FB and Instagram, but I wanted to share here stages of my work and how they arrived where they arrived.

“Hanging out with the angels” had 3 different girls put together in it, plus 3 separate pairs of feet plus two pairs of arms plus a bird. Below are stages of this work:

I have had inquires on whether I am going to make bigger e-course related to story art, and I am considering to cook up something like 3-4 weeks long next year closer to June. I would love to hear if any of you would be interested.

As many of you know I am also participating on collaborative 1 year long e-courses, that start on 1st of January 2016. In Life Book I am doing collaboration with Tallulah on 18th January and Intuitive art (much like my story art but without reference) in August.

On Let’s Face it I teach palette knife technique in colourful face and 1 full body piece also related to story art. 16 fabulous portrait teachers will be teaching there for the whole year!

Only 2 weeks left until these two incredible workshops start!

Will chat to all of you later in few days with more arty things. I am planning few blog posts this months, please forgive me – I just have too much to share. :)

Collaboration with Flowrsinher Hair

SoulfulSisters-byAnnieHamman02.jpg

In case you didn’t know Flowrsinher Hair is an art name of a very talented Cape Town artist Jeanne-Marie Webb. FB community of artists often call her simply Flowers. She is indeed very beautiful flower-like gentle soul: JeanneMarieWebb01

So “Soulful Sisters” is my collaboration with her:

Jeanne Marie has visited me recently for a weekend of fun and inspiration. On a spur of the moment she suggested we make an artwork together, and we have filmed it along the way. We started with painting 2 faces on 1 large piece of paper, using only 1 reference (just to see where the light falls and to guide us in the color palette.)

Ok, are you ready to see the reference?!! I am closing my eyes now… 3-2-1… Ta-da!!!

What?! I know, right?! Flowrs hardly used the reference, she is rebellious like that. And I was like: “Hey! Are you using the reference?!” And she was be like: “Ummm… Hmmm… Yea…” I used it a lot! (That’s the way I paint). Somehow this lovely warm green have crept into our work and tied it all together. And the light fell where it should be.

She painted her side for a while and I painted mine, and then we swapped sides and interfered with each other’s work, then we swapped sides again and the artwork was done!

Magic happened! We are both in love with this work, but who gets to keep it? Tough decision… So, we have to sell it. It went to Flowrs shop.

And here is the video incase you missed it:

Thank you for viewing, we had fun!

Hugs,

Annie.

Collaborating with 3 year old Tallulah Jade Rainbow

AnnieHammanPaint-1a.jpg

I have a secret to share and I am very excited about it! But before I get to that, here are some recent news on what's happening creatively. I have just created this 2 min 40 sec promotional teaser video, collaborating with my artist-toddler, for a 1 year long workshop Life Book 2016, were I was invited to teach online next year. Here - she pushed me out of my comfort zone and shocked once again:

The actual video of us painting will be released here on 18th January:

Soooo... Since the secret is related to me and Tallulah, here is few words about her.

Tallulah Jade Rainbow Hamman is my 3 and a half year old daughter who is painting large abstracts from the age of 1 year and 3 months:

TallulahPainting02

At the age of 3 Tallulah already completed over 30 large acrylics on canvas and had her 1st successful solo exhibition in June 2015 in Hermanus, South Africa, where many of her works here sold.

It all started accidentally, as I was looking for a ways to keep her busy while I paint, so I gave her canvas and paint. She got busy, and something marvellous happened: the artworks were pure fearless expression of a child's heart and they were vibrant, complex and beautiful.

Here is a video of Tallulah making a painting on her own, beginning to end:

To see more of her videos and completed artworks, read about her process, bog post about exhibition, tips and tricks on how to start painting with your baby, and many more things, please visit Tallulah's blog that I ran on her behalf:

Let's get to the point - at last!

I am working on 2-3 week workshop called "Fearless Expression" that I pan to release approximately February next year. It involves sharing Tallulah's painting process and our collaboration, where I will talk about concept of fearless art and how to approach it as a mother, grandmother and an artist. I have already filmed great deal of material and busy gathering my thoughts together into exciting and original plan. I can only tell at this point that it's going to be something quite different!
